"You have to minimize your losses,
and try to preserve capital,
for those very few instances where
you can make a lot in a very short amount of time."

JATS BloodHound Templates are based on a simple trend-trading methodology.  Trading the templates is all about the PROCESS.  Finding opportunities that may provide more winners than losers.  A trading edge.  Managing risk will determine success.

A trade room is offered weekly to provide futures traders the opportunity to see how the JATS custom BloodHound Templates and various Solvers can be applied during certain trading conditions.  The Trade Room is open between 7:30 am and 10:00 or 10:30 am, Chicago time, depending on market activity.  JATS custom BloodHound templates used in the weekly trade room may include, at the discretion of the room moderator:
  • Customized NinjaTrader Market Analyzer to reflect higher time frame trending conditions
  • JATSDirectionGuideBH Template to confirm range expansion/volatility
  • JATSBollingerBandsBH Template to find range expansion opportunities
  • JATSHiLoInflectionsBH Template to nail lower time frame entries after a short pullback or retracement or breakout opportunity.

With trend pullbacks are arguably the most sought after setup in day trading.  Yet, they are the hardest to accomplish.  JATS trading methodology seeks to identify "with trend" pullback setups making it easier to identify when to pull the trigger.

JATS BloodHound templates are meant to assist the trader in identifying reversals once a trending market condition is identified.  Once a trending condition is identified on the market analyzer, reversal signals can found on either the HiLoInflections BH Template or the DirectionGuide BH Template when used with the custom bar type.  Not all trades are winners.  For a higher probability of achieving a short term profit target, trade with momentum.  The goal is to have more winners than losers.

Trending market conditions are established by a higher time frame trending condition, that have an observable higher high and higher low, or a lower high and lower low for shorts.  A custom market analyzer serves as a clear visual aid to identify when markets are trending and signal those markets for possible trading opportunities.

JATS BloodHound Trading Templates provide traders with a disciplined, logical trend trading methodology.  Once the higher time frame trend is established:
  • Look for lower time frame volatility, momentum and bar direction confirmation.
  • Wait for a 2-5 bar pullback and enter in direction of trend after signal.
  • Profits are quick 1:1.5 with runner to identified support/resistance level or 2nd PT.
JATS BloodHound Templates and Indicators can be purchased and installed locally on one machine instance of NinjaTrader and used for trading.

JATS Methodology Defined

Trade Strategy:
  • Trade (Multi-bar) Pullbacks with trend once HTF Trend, lower-time frame Volatility and Momentum Conditions are met.

Higher Time Frame Trend Conditions:
  • Higher Time Frame Trend.  A custom NinjaTrader Market Analyzer with BloodHound Template is provided to reflect the Higher Time Frame Trend.  Once condition is met, I can look for remaining conditions to be met.

Volatility Conditions:

Lower Time Frame chart must follow Volatility level to be tradeable.  Optimize custom bar type to fit volatility.
  • Trade in direction of HTF Trend within Volatility Levels.
  • Volatility Level 1 is closer to price and can both capture short-term trending conditions and provide the strategy's first stop condition.
  • Volatility Level 2 is further away from price and can be used as a Trailing Profit Target or provide the strategy's second stop condition.
Momentum Conditions:
  • New trade entries should always be with momentum slope.
  • Add onto positions on first pullback after momentum crosses zero line.
    One Hour Initial Balance:
    • Add onto positions when price closes outside the first hour's price trading range.
    Open to Close:
    • Always check to see where price is trading relative to prior day's close and current open.
    • Be aware of opening GAP runs.
    • Add onto positions when price trading directionally with prior day close and current day open.
    Risk Management:
    • Realizing there isn't any single system or technical strategy that will produce winners all the time, the above strategy, when combined with money management (not over-positioning and over-trading), can provide consistent results.
    • It is all about implementing a consistent process that can be quantified and improved for MFE.
    • Win more profitable trades.
    • Lose less on unprofitable trades.
    • With Trend Strategies use a Stop/Trail and Profit Target for each trade with 2:1 or 3:1 R/R.
    Stop/Trail Strategy:
    • 2 Contracts.
    • B/E Stop after first Lower High or Higher Low pullback.
    • Trail Volatility Level 2.
    • Stop at close < or > Volatility Level 1.
    Profit Target Strategy:
    • Take Profits at a preset 2:1 or 3:1 Risk to Reward.
    • Take Profits or Add On to Position at 1.5x 10 day ATR for larger range expansion days (opening drive).
    • Take Profits at a Technical Pivot Point or Fibonacci Extension Level.
    Blackbird:

Shark Indicators' new Blackbird Trade Design Platform will provide Advanced Money Management Structure with Predefined Global Presets that you control.
    • Max Daily and Weekly Drawdown & Profit Target Levels.
    • High Water Mark to keep profits after certain percentage or Dollar amount reached.
    • [User-defined] [2] Bar Trailing Stop .
    • ATR Trailing Stops.
Now you don't have to trade on the basis of emotion.  Use can easily use discipline, logic, and rules for trading once price aligns with the strategy signals.  Allow the strategy to trigger the trades.
I'll tell you a secret.  In a trending market condition, there are only 2 trades I want to make.  Those are trading pullbacks, long or short.

The trick is to find good trends.  JATS customized NinjaTrader Market Analyzer makes this is as simple as matching the higher time frame trends with the JATS custom volatility levels.  Then, pullback signals are taken from the JATS BloodHound Templates on the smaller time frame custom bar type chart.

      RISK DISCLOSURE

Futures and forex trading have large potential rewards, but also contain substantial risk and is not for every investor.  An investor could potentially lose all or more than the initial investment.  Risk capital is money that can be lost without jeopardizing ones' financial security or life style.  Don’t trade with money you can’t afford to lose. Only risk capital should be used for trading and only those with sufficient risk capital should consider trading.

      HYPOTHETICAL PERFORMANCE DISCLOSURE

Hypothetical performance results have many inherent limitations, some of which are described below. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown. In fact, there are frequently sharp differences between hypothetical performance results and the actual results subsequently achieved by any particular trading program. One of the limitations of hypothetical performance results is that they are generally prepared with the benefit of hindsight. In addition, hypothetical trading does not involve financial risk, and no hypothetical trading record can completely account for the impact of financial risk in actual trading. For example, the ability to withstand losses or to adhere to a particular trading program in spite of trading losses are material points which can also adversely affect actual trading results. There are numerous other factors related to the markets in general or to the implementation of any specific trading program which cannot be fully accounted for in the preparation of hypothetical performance results and all of which can adversely affect actual trading results.
